In 1903 the Army experimented with a graniteware mess cup but found the enameling to be poisonous with acidic foods.

This cup meas. approx. 4.50 inches across the bottom and is 2.50 inches tall with a rolled lip and a small handle attached to one side. Bottom center of the cup is embossed with “US.”

Cup is in good condition with only a few minor spots where the enameling has worn. [ad] [ph:m]
