This novelty piece is a ¾" diameter wonderfully carved ring made from a single wedge of animal bone. Finely executed, this bone item has a sturdy ¼" wide band with a flat face that exhibits an ornately carved, raised rendition of two human hands clasped in a handshake. Edge border of the face is also carved in a faceted design. One of the ring side bands bears a set of three, 1/8" high, carved block initials that read "J H C" filled in with traces of red ink. Opposite side band exhibits an ornately incised shield device complete with 7 or 8 recessed 5-point stars cut into the shield's upper area. A wonderfully carved bone-ring executed by the soldier during his days in camp or his days in prison.
