Watch has a very nice coin silver case with a floral and leaf decoration over a faintly crosshatched surface on the front. Back of the case is decorated in a similar fashion but on a plain background. The inside of both the front and back covers of the case bear a mark that reads “L” over the word “WARRANTED TRADE MARK COIN SILVER” over two five pointed stars and the serial number “B6735.”
Face is white with black Roman numerals. Both the hour and minute hands are present. There is a small second dial with hand at bottom. Crystal is excellent.
The movement is by William Ellery and is so marked with serial number “65458” which dates the movement to January of 1863. Movement has a gilt finish with 7 jewels. It is wound and set by a key. Key is present on the chain but the tip is worn. Hands can be set but the key is too worn to wind the watch.
Chain is approx. 15.00 inches long with a rather fancy key attached to the end. Key is also made of silver and is trumpet shaped with a blue stone set in the top and linear decorations along the side.
Overall, the watch is very clean and is a very attractive piece. [ad] [ph:L]
