Small wooden desk with slanted upper lid, measuring 12” x 9” x 2” and 3.375” [low and high]. Hinged lower Lid opens downward to provide 13” x 12” black felt covered writing table. When opened, its upper section lift up, uncovering writing paper compartment. The hinged upper lid covers three small compartments for inkwells, pens and blotter, etc. In all, a cleverly constructed lap desk, compact and handsome.
The top upper lid has a key lock, minus the key. The inner upper lid displays inked initials “E.J.S.”, the lower inner lid “H.P.” Both inner lids display patches of scratching and lightly carved lines and circles. All interior compartments clean. Felt covered surface exhibits light wear and scratching. Dark exterior surface displays minor nicks consistent with age and usage. Else VG & highly attractive. Solid collectible. Great desk display piece.
