19th Century frame meas. approx. 6.50 x 9.75 inches with a recessed panel at center for holding a photograph. There is no photo but the original glass pane is present.
Frame is decorated with a raised linear border on both the inside panel and the outside edge. Bottom has a very pronounced raised decoration of a Cherubs face at bottom center inside a flowing spread plain banner anchored at two flowers placed in the bottom corners. The sides and bottom of the frame also have a vine decoration. Top center has an oval medallion with the bust of a woman in left profile flanked by boughs laurel leaves and a flowing riband.
Reverse has a japanned tin plate that swivels to allow access to the photo recess. Forked japanned easel stand is present. One of the three swivel tabs that hold the tin plate closed is missing.
Item has light surface dirt but is in otherwise nice condition. [ad]
