Oval image on 6 ½” x 8 ½” mount. Excellent condition.. 2/3 length standing view wearing 9 button frock coat, belt with rectangular plate, officer’s sash, and sword. No photographer’s mark. Typed biographical info attached on reverse.

Gilbert, born in 1826 in Montgomery County, PA, was a resident of Philadelphia and an upholsterer by trade when he enlisted and mustered into service as Captain of Company A, 91st PA on 9/30/61. He resigned on 1/18/63 on a surgeon’s certificate of disability.  Gilbert died on 11/14/95 and is buried in Lawnview Cemetery, Rockland, Montgomery County, PA.
