Album has brown leatherette cover with embossed design on the front and back. Leatherette is in good condition, with some wear all over, especially on the edges and corners. Cover is solid with no splitting and binding is tight.
Album has a printed vellum lining on inside of front and back covers. All pages are present and intact. There is a decorative title page labeled, “ALBUM”. The edges of the pages are gold gilt which has retained its brightness. The album closes with a gold colored metal clasp which is still firmly attached.
Album contains 42 images. There is space for 40 images, with two being loose. There are a variety of men, women and children of all ages. Men are in civilian attire. These images are mostly of individuals, with one image of a class of boys and girls. Another image of a young lady is hand inscribed on the back that it was produced from an earlier daguerreotype. Photographer’s marks checked are from New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
Album measures approx. 6 ½” x 7 ¾” x 2 ½”.
This is a great album for a collector of cabinet card civilian images. [sl]
