Very nice full standing view of a British Army medic circa 1890 - World War One.
The subject is posed in front of a painted backdrop of a garden trellis. He stands between a table and chair made of rough-hewn wood. The subject is posed with one hand resting on his pith helmet that has been placed next to him on the table. He wears an overseas cap with badge, four pocket tunic with matching trousers, puttees and boots. His waistbelt and cartridge box belt are white as is the canteen sling. The waistbelt is held closed by a snake buckle. Around his left arm is a medical brassard.
The image has fantastic clarity and contrast. Mount has minor toning along the bottom edge. Bottom of the mount is marked “JOHN HART 179 & 181 CITY ROAD, E.C.” and “275 LEYTONSTONE ROAD E.”
Reverse has the same information but with artwork. [ad]
