Image shows Hutchings standing in full uniform. He holds his kepi in hand wearing single-breasted officer’s frock, sash, sword belt, and sword.

Image is clear with good contrast. Reverse has simple photographer’s imprint, BLACK of Boston, along with collector identification in pencil.

William Vincent Hutchings enlisted on September 2, 1861 as a 1st Lieutenant in the 24th MA Infantry. He was promoted to Captain & Asst. QM on November 26, 1862. Transferred to the QM Department on April 16, 1863 and was promoted to Lt. Colonel and Chief QM of 25th Corps on December 4, 1864.. He resigned his commission on May 29, 1865. After the war he was a member of GAR Post #113 (Edward Kinsely Post) in Boston, MA. He died July 26, 1888 and was buried in Rookwood General Cemetery in New South Wales, Australia.  [jet]
