CDV is of an unknown Union officer holding a folded slouch hat in his left hand. The subject wears a dark frock coat with 1st lieutenant shoulder straps that look to have a dark rank field and which would denote a staff officer. The coat is open to show a dark military vest beneath. He also wears dark trousers with thin light leg stripe. A close look will reveal his folded slouch hat complete with hat cord in his left hand.

Image is bright and clear with excellent contrast. Paper and mount are good. Bottom of mount is marked GERMON…PHILADELPHIA.
