This is a cased ambrotype of a seated soldier. He is posed wearing a piped frock coat. Image is slightly dark with light oxidation around the perimeter. Stamped copper frame features military motifs. Hard “union” case is complete and remains in good condition with no cracks or chips. Velvet lining opposite image is loose.  [jet]
