Sixth plate image of a neatly groomed Confederate soldier seated with one arm resting on a table. He wears a gray shell jacket with five buttons visible down the front. A close look at his waist shows what looks to be a sixth buttonhole but no button. The subject also wears matching gray trousers.
Clarity is good and the contrast is excellent. Stamped brass mat is very clean while the frame shows light discoloration from dirt and age.
Image comes in a half leather case with an exterior decoration of a bird picking at a vine of grapes within a border surrounded by scrollwork. [AD]
