Ninth-plate waist up view of a cleanshaven Confederate wearing a Columbus Depot shell jacket buttoned only at the top, white shirt and dark bowtie. The coat has a dark collar with dark piping running down the front. Three of the visible buttons are touched with gilt while the subjects face is lightly tinted.
Clarity and contrast are excellent. Stamped brass mat and frame are bright and clean.
Complete leather case has a flower at center surrounded by scrolls and a raised scalloped border. Interior pillow has a nice crosshatched decoration.
This image would be a very nice addition to any Civil War or Confederate image collection. The quality of the image is first class. [AD]
