Stereo card dates from the mid-19^th Century and captures the front and one side of the field stone structure. There is a small out building visible in the fenced in yard. The house and road in front are bordered by a white picket fence.

Image is mounted on yellow stock and has good clarity in contrast with minor scattered surface dirt from age.

Reverse has “WASHINGTON HEADQUARTERS VALLEY FORGE” in period pencil. There is also a collector’s number in the upper right-hand corner.

Washington's Headquarters, also known as the Isaac Potts House, is the structure used by General George Washington and his household during the 1777-1778 encampment of the Continental Army at Valley Forge.

At the time of the encampment, the house was being rented by a relative of Isaac Potts, Deborah Hewes. Mrs. Hewes, in turn, rented the entire house along with some furnishings to the General and his military family.

The building was first constructed in 1768 by the Potts family, and today the structure is estimated to be 80% original. [AD] [ph:L]
