These two fired bullets are a .577 Enfield and a .58 caliber Union three ringer. The Enfield bullet has smashed into the base of the three-ringer. Interestingly the boxwood plug is still present in the base of the Enfield.
With the bullets comes an old typed tag that reads “MID-AIR COLLISION CONFEDERATE .577 ENFIELD & UNION .58 MINIE BULLETS COLD HARBOR, VA. BATTLEFIELD.”
