Two part low convex coat button. Button depicts eagle with banner with motto, "Essayons", fortifications, and rising sun, intended for officers of the engineer corps. Backmark no longer discernible. Medium chocolate patina, with tiny areas of gilt showing through. Moderate push to face. Shank present, though bent.
