US 12 lb., 4.52 inch spherical half shell with bullets clearly visible in the brown matrix. This shell used a Bormann time fuse. Visible are pistol and musket balls, which Confederate artillery filled into captured Union shells, making it a case-shot projectile. Center of shell matrix shows where a bursting charge is present.
Shell was produced at Allegheny Arsenal in Pittsburgh, PA.
Exterior of shell has moderate pitting. Great for display on a nice wood base.
