This is an interesting collection of civilian and military items that were being brought to the Confederacy from England in exchange for cotton from Southern plantations. Items were recovered from the ships, The Georgiana and The Minho.
The Georgiana sunk off the Carolina coast in 1863 carrying a load of arms and domestic items to Charleston, which included these brass pins and ceramic button.
The Minho sunk off of Sullivan’s Isle in 1862 carrying Enfield arms into Charleston, which included this Enfield bullet with original wooden plug and brass percussion caps. [SM]
