Brass 7th corps badge has a darkened patina; missing the 5 pointed star that should be in the center opening of the “C”. Corps badges were attached to the soldier’s hat or left side of the uniform. This avoided confusion on the battlefield as a soldier could quickly be identified. Corps badges became a great source of regimental pride to the men who wore them. Recovered in the Richmond, VA area. [SM]
