Confederate side knife in relic condition. Probably blacksmith made. The iron exhibits old pitting and some minor surface rust.
Measuring more than 16” overall, this knife has a blade that is 11 1/2” long and 1 3/4” wide at the hilt. The blade has a worn tip and several chips along blade edge. The iron cross guard is 4” long. It originally had a quillion on either end of the guard but one has broken off.
The tang extends from the blade an additional 4 1/2”. It passes through the guard and the end is peened over a washer that once held a wood handle.
A great example of a CS side knife! [jet]
