Relic condition Model 1849 Colt pocket revolver in near complete condition. All metal surfaces have been cleaned of rust leaving behind a gray, heavily pitted surface throughout.
Octagon barrel is 6.00 inches long. It has some of the front sight present and a few letters of the barrel address can be seen. Loading lever is present below the barrel but missing its tip and the catch post.
Cylinder, frame, trigger and triggerguard are present.
Wedge pin is present but screw is missing.
Cylinder appears to be empty. All nipples are present. Hammer is frozen in the down position. Serial number cannot be made out.
Grip area has most of the frame however one section has broken off but it is present.
Small modern tag attached reads “ANTIETAM” on one side and “BURNSIDE BRIDGE” on the other.
Also with the item is a letter from the previous seller stating “VERBAL PROVENANCE IS THAT THIS PISTOL WAS DUG ON THE ANTIETAM BATTLEFIELD IN THE VICINITY OF BURNSIDE BRIDGE IN THE 1950’S.” [ad]
