This is a very fine specimen of an excavated .45 caliber bullet for the English Whitworth rifle. These highly accurate rifles were imported by the Confederacy through the Union blockade.
This bullet was cast of lead and measures 1.407” long and is .451” in diameter. It has a perfect cone cavity and features a perfect white/light gray “dug” patina. Unknown recovery location. [jet] [ph:L]
