Model 1816 socket bayonet in relic condition. Iron shows heavy pitting and surface rust.
Looks as though the blade is complete along its length but minor mounts of material are missing along the edges.
Socket is also full length but is missing about 30% of the iron forward of the bridge. The bayonet can be displayed so this missing section of iron is not seen.
Bayonet was dug on the 2nd Bull Run battlefield. [ad] [ph:jet]
