This lot of 12 dug buttons includes the following:

5 US General Service Eagle coat buttons – 1 extra quality, 2 Scoville, 2 plain backs. All have shanks. None have any gilt left. Most have dark patina with one showing green. All in good condition.

2 US General Service Eagle coat buttons – Both have shanks. One shows some gilt. The darker of the two has a push in the face. No maker’s marks

1 Large coin button with crushed shank on the back and a face that has a 10-pointed star with a smaller 6-pointed star within it. Face is dark with slight bend. No maker.

1 Confederate block “I” coat button with shank. No maker’s mark. Face is crushed with a quarter of the face missing. Letter “I” is clearly visible.

1 Virginia State seal coat button with shank and Scoville back mark. Slight push to face. Gilt remaining in lower areas.

2 Mississippi “I” buttons. Both buttons have the five-pointed star on the face with the letter “I” at center with “MISSISSIPPI” around the edge. Both have a dark patina and both have the shank. One is marked Hyde & Goodrich with a severe push and hints of gilt. The other has an unreadable maker with a small push to the face.

Area of recovery for these buttons is not known.  [ad]
