This dug .44 Starr revolver is complete except for the wooden grips that have long since rotted away. The surface of the item is covered in rust. This rust has been stabilized and coated to prevent any further deterioration of the metal. All the parts of the revolver are present. The 6-inch barrel, cylinder, loading lever, breakdown screw, trigger, trigger guard and hammer. Cylinder is not loaded. None of the moveable parts work and no serial numbers are visible.

Wendall Lang, Jr., a longtime relic hunter and well-known collector, recovered this item on the Cold Harbor battlefield. This exact revolver is pictured on page 201 of “The Illustrated History of American Civil War Relics” by Steve Sylvia & Mike O’Donnell.
