The badge is made with a silver finish. The pin bar shows scrolls, the ribbon is red, white and blue, and has a bottom bar attaching to the suspension ring. The badge is a hollow-cast 19th Corps badge with 13 / MAINE / Reg. in raised letters on a stippled background.
The regiment organized at Augusta on 12/31/61 and served in the Army and Department of the Gulf in the 13th and 19th Army Corps, and with the latter joining the Army of the Shenandoah in August 1864. It mustered out 1/6/65, having lost 14 officers and men killed or mortally wounded, seeing action in Texas and in the Red River Expedition at Sabine Cross Roads and Pleasant Hill.
The condition is very good, with nice color to the ribbon. The pin and suspension bars are bright. The badge is more subdued in tone. Minor spots on the obverse bottom. The fastening pin is missing. The 19th Army Corps was a wide-ranging organization. [sr]
