Offered here is a Grand Army of the Republic Ironstone Mug containing a rendition of the 12TH or 20th Army Corps, first division (Red) badge of the Army of the Potomac? The Twelfth Army Corps was created by general orders No 129, Adjutants General’s Office, September 12, 1862 and designated as such until September 23 1863 and finally being merged into the Twentieth Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, by General Orders No 144, Adjutant General’s Office, and April 4, 1864. Definitely, an item custom made for members of ether GAR posts as well as the reunions. The mug body, is composed of imported glazed ironstone being marked on the bottom under the glazed surface “Felda China FST Germany” also being marked as its country of origin Germany, this would indicate a manufactures date of post 1897.
Condition: Complete, without chips or cracks. Some very minor loss to the painted lip band (due to usage). A Nice GAR Item!!
