This example of a brass, two-piece suspension badge is an original United Confederate Veteran’s pin badge as worn by its members at their 35th Annual Reunion in 1925 at Dallas, TX. The die-struck, sheet brass device consists of an ornate pin bar that suspends a circular-shaped disc. Bar is embossed with armament from the artillery, infantry, and naval branches. The brass disc below exhibits a view of southern icons including R.E. Lee, the Saint George’s battle flag, the monument at Richmond with the top icon a box that reads “35th ANNUAL / REUNION / DALLAS 1925.” Disc is connected to the bar via a small ring. Back of both the bar and the disc are maker-marked with “THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. / NEWARK, N.J.” This wonderful UCV badge device, with its Texas affiliation, would make a great addition to any Civil War display or United Confederate Veteran military collection.
