US Model 1917 steel helmet with OD green exterior and a nice 3rd Infantry Division insignia painted on the front. Paint shows only minor wear. Insignia is 100% intact.
There is no chinstrap but the interior has a complete liner. Chinstrap keepers are present and are attached to the helmet shell by round rivets showing helmet is American made.
The 3rd Infantry Division became known as “The Rock Of The Marne” for their stand against the Germans along the Marne River in the crucial fighting around Chateau-Thierry in June of 1918. The campaigns of the 3rd Division in World War One are Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel and Muse-Argonne. [ad]
