Here is a paper-wrapped stack of tin fuse igniters for Taylor’s time fuse. The whole stack is wrapped in tan packing paper. The packing paper is water damaged, missing a few fragments, and quite fragile. The whole piece has been wrapped in cling wrap to keep it together and protect from further damage.

The Taylor fuse was patented April 11, 1865, so did not see any use during the Civil War. The purpose of these tin “igniters” was to direct the flame and hot gases from the propellant charge into the fuse and ensure ignition of the paper time fuse.

There appears to be approximately 50 igniters in the pack.  Extremely rare to find a complete pack.  [jet]
