This is a non-excavated specimen and remains in excellent condition. This type of artillery shell was for the 3” Parrott and Ordnance rifles. Complete shell: brass Hotchkiss fuse adaptor, iron nose section, lead driving band, and iron base cup. Three flame grooves run up the sides. Some original black paint remains. Brass fuse adaptor can be easily unscrewed.
