The "gimlet" has a screw on the end and was intended to be used to remove broken pieces of friction primers from the vent. It could also serve as a priming wire to poke a hole in the powder bag. This one is in good condition.

The T-handle is made of wood, 4” long. A copper collar connects the handle to the iron wire. This collar is stamped “15 S”. The gimlet measures 15.75” overall.  The pick end is twisted with a sharpened edge as you would find on a drill bit.

This implement has a nice patina with some light wear. [jet][ph:L]
