This is a scarce original spanner wrench for artillery fuses. Constructed entirely of iron, this likely for fuses used in larger weight shells and those that used Navy fuses with water-cap covers, the lugs of the wrench fitting the notches on the sides of the fuze adapter.
These are simple, but essential tools for the artilleryman and are now very tough to find since they had such a specific purpose and were of little use in postwar civilian life. [jet][ph:L]
