This heavy-duty cylindrical bucket is a Civil War iron grease bucket carried as part the equipment of an artillery gun crew. The grease bucket measures 7” in diameter and stands 8” high. Top and bottom pieces are secured with four rivets each. Top has a 3½” diameter opening that is capped with a pivoting metal cover that has a flattened closure tab.

A heavy-duty link chain serves as the bucket handle. Chain has a large 2” diameter O-ring that allows the bucket to be hung from the bottom of the limber or cannon.

Condition is very good with black paint exterior. No rust or holes.  [jet] [ph:L]
