This is a scarce original spanner wrench for artillery fuses. Constructed entirely of hand forged iron with visible striata on the surface. This fits fuses used in US Navy with water-cap covers. The lugs of the wrench fitting the notches on each side of the adapter.
These are simple essential tools for the artilleryman. They are tough to find since they had such a specific purpose and were of little use in postwar civilian life. [stp][ph:L]
