Originally published in 1904, this is an early edition of the popular book of Confederate songs, poems and personal reminisces of the war. Also contains many illustrations of prominent people, places, monuments and battle scenes. Wharton includes several endorsements of his book in the beginning pages. There is no title page present with the printing date, but a personal inscription dates to 1913.
Book is covered in light blue cloth. Tow crossed colorful Confederate flags decorate the front and back covers. Gold gilt highlights the lettering.
Book measures 6 ½” by 9 ½”. Text contains 412 pages. Binding is tight. Pages have yellowed with age and show random smudges or spots. First endpaper has a small tear, otherwise pages are in very good condition. A must have for a Confederate library. [sl]
