The full title of this volume is “REGIMENTAL HISTORY OF THE FIRST NEW YORK DRAGOONS (ORIGINALLY THE 130 N. Y. INFANTRY) DURING THREE YEARS OF ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE GREAT CIVIL WAR” by Rev. J. R. Bowen who served as a bugler in Company I.

This volume was published by the author in 1900.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 5.50 x 7.75 inches and runs 464 pages with roster. The volume also has several black & white illustrations.

Blue cloth boards show minor wear with some light surface dirt and are covered with Mylar. Front cover has the title in gold. Interior is very good though the page edges have yellowed with age.

The 1st New York Dragoons was organized in September of 1861 and served with the Cavalry Corps of the Army of the Potomac and the Army of the Shenandoah. They took part in 94 skirmishes and engagements including Deserted House, Suffolk, Todd’s Tavern, Yellow Tavern, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Trevilian Station, Deep Bottom, Winchester, Berryville, Opequan, Cedar Creek, Petersburg and the Appomattox Campaign. The regiment lost 5 officers and 256 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease.  [AD] [PH:L]
