Cover on this war era almanac reads, “FOR THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 1862, BEING THE SECOND AFTER BISSEXTILE OR LEAP YEAR, THE EIGHTY-SIXTH OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE, AND THE FIRST OF THE SOUTHERN CONFEDERACY”. Almanac was calculated by David Richardson of Louisa County, VA, published by West & Johnson of Richmond, VA and printed by Chas. H. Wynne.

Being a war time edition, almanac features the list of Confederate government officials and generals, and a brief history on the causes and beginning of the war. Also contains the usual moon phases, planting guides, lists of VA and NC government officials, plus recipes, cooking and household tips.

Pages are tightly sewn together. Paper shows spotting and light chipping on edges, but no tears. Two pages have some pencil markings.

Almanac measures 4” by 6 ¼”. Total of 36 pages.  [sl][ph:L]
