The full title of this study is “HALL’S BREECHLOADERS: JOHN H. HALL’S INVENTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF A BREECHLOADING RIFLE WITH PRECISSION MADE INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS, AND ITS INTRODUCTION INTO UNITED STATES SERVICE” by R. T. Huntington and published by George Shumway Publishers of York, Pennsylvania in 1972.
Hardbound book done in brown cloth with an illustrated dustjacket. Covers are excellent and the dustjacket is very nice and shows only minor wear from use and age. Binding is excellent.
Interior is clean and has numerous illustrations and drawings.
Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 369 pages with index.
First page is signed by the author to a priest at St. John’s parish in Tacoma, Washington. Inside front cover has the priest’s bookplate with Latin inscription and decorated with cannon tubes.
A good reading copy.
Dean S. Thomas was known as a onetime Gettysburg Battlefield Guide and early relic hunter as well as the founder, owner, and operator of Thomas Publications. He was also the author of many books related to Civil War ammunition and projectiles. [ad][ph:L]
