This title was part of The Virginia Regimental Histories Series produced by H. E. Howard during the 1980’s and ‘90’s.

This first edition was written by William A. Young, Jr. and Patricia C. Young and was published in 1990. This book is number 764 of 1000 copies and is signed by the authors.

Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 197 pages with roster, thirty-one black and white photographs and several maps.

Hardcover is gray cloth with the title and the great seal of the Confederacy embossed in gold on the front cover. Title and author repeated on the spine. Covers are excellent.

Binding is excellent. Page edges have yellowed some with age.

The 56th Virginia was organized on September23, 1861 and served mostly with the Army of Northern Virginia. They lost heavily at Fort Donelson, Gaine’s Mill, Gettysburg and Hatcher’s Run.  [ad][ph:L]
