Book is titled “CAMP AND OUTPOST DUTY FOR INFANTRY WITH STANDING ORDERS, EXTRACTS FROM THE REVISED REGULATIONS FOR THE ARMY, RULES FOR HEALTH, MAXIMS FOR SOLDIERS, AND DUTIES OF OFFICERS” by Daniel Butterfield, Maj. Genl. Of Vols., U.S. Army and published by the Harper & Brothers, New York in 1863.
Volume is hardbound in brown cloth with a spread-winged eagle perched atop a drum, sword and rifle and topped by a circlet of laurel all done in gold. Title is in gold on the spine. Covers show very minor age wear.
Interior is good with only slight toning to page edges and a water stain in the upper right corners. Volume meas. 3.70 x 5.50 inches and runs 123 pages.
First blank page has a period ink ID that would need a little work to decipher. Below the name is “NEWBERNE 1864.” [ad][ph:L]
