Line drawings, charts, fold out maps, diagrams. Introductory notice from Board of Officers presenting this text to the Secretary of War signed by Winfield Scott, Zachary Taylor and other military officers. First section deals with the formation of a regiment, posts of officers, etc., followed by the School of the Soldier (positions, facings, firing, marching,) School of the Company (alignment, loading, advancing in line, marching by a flank, etc.,) and School of the Battalion (breaking to right or left, marching in column, forming line, advancing in line,) followed by exercises and maneuvers for light infantry and riflemen, and instructions for parade and review.
Wear to covers at edges of spine, etc. Minor stains and foxing. Small bookplate upper left inside cover “The Property of John P. Miller / No. 35” pasted over one signature of Miller with another on the facing flyleaf.
