This handsome Second Edition (1994) book is Volume 7 of the rare and stylized Butternut and Blue “Army of the Potomac” series. Written by James L. McLean, this book details the Brigade of Lysander Cutler at Gettysburg, who were among the first US infantry troops to take up the defense along McPherson’s Ridge on the morning of July 1st. One of the most hard-fought Brigades of the battle, Cutler’s men suffered huge casualties during stubborn fighting until falling back to secure Culp’s Hill.
The attractive cover is a black cloth with dark red accents and gold text. The condition is excellent, save for a small scuff at the upper left corner on the rear board cover and a nearly imperceptible dent at the lower, right, front corner. The first title page is signed by the author “James L. McLean 1/21/95”. All pages are clean and crisp with fine edges and corners. Cover measurements are 8.75” x 11.25”.
A great and important addition to any Civil War library. [cm][ph:L]
