First published in 1835, this 1858-dated volume is the first of an incomplete 3-volume set. Considered a master work of General Winfield Scott, it guided aspects of military tactical doctrine from points prior to the Mexican War and up to the Civil War (with elements still studied today).
This copy was published by Harper and Brothers of New York City in 1858, and features marbled paper-covered boards with a cloth spine. Book is complete, with minor foxing through the first few pages. All pages are crisp and clear, binding is secure, and the original folding plates are present and complete. Mild cover warp is noted, with some bubbling of the paper covering. Cloth spine section is in good condition with complete gold gilt text and patriotic design. Dimensions are 3.9” x 5.8”.
Whether looking to complete a set or have one of the standard works of US Military History, this is an example worth acquiring. [cm][ph:L]
