A supremely rare “barrel” type tankard of the Colonial period. One of the scarcest tavern ware pieces! Features a large handle, and glass trailing around the circumference [a process of applying hot trails of glass onto the body of a vessel for decoration, to form a handle or to create a foot - a very thin trail is called a thread).

The tankard stands approx. 6” tall; 3 ½” in diameter at lip; 3” in diameter at the base. Unpolished pontil. Overall very good condition.  [ld] [ph:L]
