These short drinking glasses were made with thick bases that enabled them to be rapped on the table, giving the sound of a ragged volley of musketry during a toast. Formerly in the J. Anthony Stout collection, this one is not only made with a blue rim, but has been etched with the owner’s name, “J.F. Twele” and the date, “1805.” There is a small black ink collection/inventory number on the base that could be removed. This is a great looking glass in superior condition with an historic date- think Trafalgar! [sr][ph:m]
