This beautiful, heavy American pint decanter is cut in the Sheaf of Wheat pattern.  This is one of the most desirable and highly collected early American patterns.   President Andrew Jackson owned a set of case bottles cut in this pattern that are attributed to the Bakewell factory in Pittsburgh, but the pattern was probably made by other factories along the Ohio River at the same time: 1830-1845.  It stands 7 1/2" tall without the stopper.  There is one moderate sized chip on the raised band separating the main body of the decanter from the top portion; there are also numerous small dings to that band which may be felt to the touch but are not terribly noticeable.
