This conspicuously attractive glass chalice matches the characteristics and style of examples dated to 1850.
The cut glass has been stained red and features ornate, enameled floral spray designs, framed and hand-painted motifs, and an elaborately shaded and featured cherub. Metallic gold accents individually highlight each applied design and outline the tiered sections of the piece. No cracks or overt damage are noted, and only very minor paint loss is observed. Base (bottom) shows appropriate use-associated wear in the form of very shallow scratches in a greater overall ring pattern. The cup measures 3.4” from the outer edges of the lip and 5.6” in height.
An excellent period item in a very nice condition. [cm][ph:L]
