Civil War-era general staff button that was silver plated for a militia or other special unit.
The staff button features a large, spread-winged eagle with central shield surrounded by 30 small stars, with all over a lined field. Three-piece button. Straight shank. “Superior Quality”. Coat size.
Excellent “non-dug” condition. Face has no dents. Silver plating remains good overall with only a few raised areas where brass shows through on face. [jet] [ph:L]
