This is difficult to find button that dates about 1815-1822. It is Albert’s G138B. It is a pewter one piece uniform button that was worn by infantry soldiers. The face of the button has the Union eagle with the shield by her side. In the center of the shield is a script style “I” for infantry. Backmark is “EAGLE FACTORY”; this is the mark of the Philadelphia firm Armitage. The original shank is present and in fine shape. This is a nice displaying early US infantry coat button that is tough to find in non-excavated condition. [ld][ph:L]
